Learn more about how we manage safety and security

Smart Health is amazing at coordinating your care by connecting you, your insurance company, and your provider together to reduce friction and frustration. And while we have simplified that process, we have not simplified how we handle your data.  Security is always front of mind with our team – from ongoing audits and system stress tests to understanding the constantly changing threat landscape – we care for your data as if it were our own.

To help you better understand how we manage your private data, we wanted to tell you more about what we do around the clock to ensure your data remains private and protected and while we can’t tell you all of our secrets, what we can tell you we can shine a bit of light onto our day-to-day efforts:

End-to-End Encryption – In simple terms, end-to-end encryption means that your data is scrambled into a secret code before it even leaves your device. This code can only be unlocked by the intended recipient, ensuring that even if someone were to intercept it along the way, they wouldn't be able to make sense of it.

But your data isn’t just encrypted; it is tokenized. This means it undergoes a separate process where specific parts of your health data are converted into random combinations of letters and numbers. Even if someone manages to get hold of these tokens, they're essentially meaningless without being translated by Smart Health.

We further encourage our users to use a Passkey to access their Smart Health account.  Passkeys are a new standard that eliminates the need for a username and password. They are faster to sign in with, easier to use, and much more secure. They are resistant to phishing, a process that hackers use to persuade individuals to reveal personal information, which means they can’t be stolen, and you don’t need to remember or write them down.

And with User Privacy and Consent Controls, you have full access and control of your data, and you have the ability and right to delete anything at any time with a simple request or via the app.
